Looking through my new spring-summer wardrobe I noticed that I am lacking a basic simple dress that may be worn with various accessories and be suitable for different occasions. The March issue of Burdastyle magazine features a perfect pattern for my scope: I am in love with round neckline and the shape of the darts in bodice and skirt.
The magazine proposes using bouclé or dress fabric with some body, but I am planning to wear it during hot Italian summer, so the choice has fallen on pure silk. My favorite fabric shop in Mondovì as usual didn’t let me down. I have found the last piece of D&G pure silk with an extaordinary crocodile print.
I made some alterations for better fitting in the waist and in side seams. I’ve found the round neckline too deep for my taste, so I added 2 cm all around it.
This finest designer silk fabric has an incredible smooth and soft texture with iridescent sheen that makes me think of luxury.
The dress is fully lined, with 60 cm invisible zipper in the back seam. I used a satin bias tape to finish the seams.
Today was a really beautiful sunny spring day and I spotted first snowdrops.
